With over 20 years in education, I’ve learned that when students and parents feel heard, real progress and transformation follows. I wear two hats here at EF Tutors: Executive Function Tutor and Family Success Manager. This allows me to blend English/ELA content expertise with big-picture strategy, helping students learn how to plan, prioritize, and follow through.

Executive function isn’t just a side topic; it’s the engine that powers everything else.
My approach is focused on finding the right tool for the right student and at the right time, because a one-size-fits-all system rarely works.
These four principles are the foundation of my approach:
It’s not about finding the perfect, complex checklist. We work together to co-design the simplest and most sustainable steps that will make the biggest impact for your child right now.
My first step is always to listen deeply and understand what matters to the student most, and identify where the friction really lives. Real progress begins when a student feels truly heard and understood.
I keep parents, teachers, and counselors looped in with clear session notes and next steps. When communication flows, your child gains a whole cheering section rowing in the same direction.
Our process is a simple, non-judgmental loop: we notice what worked, what didn’t, and we adjust accordingly. Over time, students learn to internalize this reflective skill and carry it into every class (and into life).

Transformations from students and families like yours:
"Jennifer was amazing and really helped our son gain some excellent EF skills. It really helped him prepare for high school (and he now makes his bed every morning!)."

"My child experienced huge benefits from working with the EF Coach & Tutor Jennifer Grasse. This all started with Precious. We knew that our kid would resist the idea of executive function coaching, though we also knew it would benefit from the meetings. So Precious offered to talk to our kiddo herself. This worked. It led to a session with Jen on zoom within days. They then got into a twice a week pattern that moved the ball pretty quickly. This is a long journey to strong work habits, but the coaching has not merely improved grades and moral. We are already seeing a pivot in our child's confidence, engagement, and interest. I have been especially impressed with the communication from both Jen and Precious. Our high school students has, themselves, also become more communicative in the process. We could not be more grateful."

"Thank you to Jennifer and EF Coach & Tutors for the incredible support this semester. I’ve watched my son’s confidence return during a really tough stretch at school. Jennifer has been consistently available, communicates clearly, and has built a trusting working relationship with him that truly makes a difference. We’re grateful, more than you know."

When a student and their family are going through a tough crisis, such as this junior I worked with who was failing three classes, my first step was to slow things down, so I can work my way to speed them up. Here’s my approach:
We start by reviewing their Learning Management system together. But more importantly, I let the student explain the situation in their own words. This builds trust and gives me the full picture.
Together, we build a clear, step-by-step plan: who to email, what to do next, and how to track it. This turns a mountain of overwhelm into a series of manageable steps.
There is always a reason a student is struggling. We make it safe to try and see what works and what doesn’t, and we celebrate every small win to build the confidence and momentum needed to follow through.
My goal is to partner with students and families to build simple, personalized systems that make school feel manageable, all while helping students feel safe, seen, and confident enough to start on their own. Ultimately, I want every student to “fly solo” by taking initiative, advocating for themselves, and sustaining progress without needing me forever.
For me, success isn’t endless tutoring. It’s that breakthrough moment when a student takes initiative on their own that ends up creating a positive cycle that rallies their whole team of parents, teachers, and counselors to cheer them on.
Progress is when:
My ultimate goal is for your child to have a whole cheering section, with you and their school rooting for their success.
My coaching style is a lot like my life outside of sessions: curious, energetic, and always in motion. When I’m not with students, you can usually find me outdoors.
My Hobbies:
I love walking my border collie around Milwaukee, rowing with a competitive masters team, and trail-running.
Fun Fact About Me:
I really enjoy audio input while I’m outdoors doing activities, so I’m always soaking up new ideas from audiobooks and podcasts.
Choosing the right support for your child is a big decision.
