EXECUTIVE FUNCTION TUTOR AT EF TUTORS:

Hi, I’m Sierra.

I help students beat overwhelm, build practical systems, and grow into their independence.

As a former high-achieving but anxious student, I know firsthand how paralyzing the pressure to get everything right can be. With over a decade in education, my passion is connecting one-on-one with students, understanding how their brains work, and helping them find the simple, practical tools that actually stick, allowing them to do their best work.

Sierra's Guiding Principles

My approach is rooted in my own experience: the right strategies can save your child so much stress and time. It’s not about “fixing” a student; it’s about finding the right tools their unique brain needs to help them thrive in their own way.

These four principles are the foundation of my approach:

Individualized Support
Is Key

I believe the most meaningful progress happens in a strong one-on-one relationship. I take the time to understand your child’s unique strengths and struggles so we can find systems that actually stick.

When a task feels too big, the first step is to break it into small, manageable pieces. We use simple strategies like short timers and clear checklists, to make starting feel less intimidating.

Build Ownership And Advocacy

My goal is to help students take ownership of their success. We build systems for accountability and put it into practical steps like emailing teachers, so they learn how to advocate for themselves.

Focus On Creating
Calm At Home

Success isn't just about grades; it's about reducing the chaos and stress around homework. When a student feels more confident and in control, the entire family dynamic becomes calmer.

What families are saying about Sierra

Transformations from students and families like yours:

“Sierra has been fantastic for our son, James. Her session notes are clear and actionable, and since working with her he’s gotten his grades up to all A’s and B’s. He’s staying on top of his work, and best of all his confidence is back. We’re so grateful for the steady, thoughtful support.”

Mia

Mom of a High Schooler

“Sierra is a rockstar. She stepped in when Alex had a long list of missing assignments and made a clear, doable plan that turned ‘overwhelmed’ into ‘I can do this.’ Her calm check-ins and detailed notes kept us all aligned, and Alex finished the term passing his classes and feeling proud of himself. We’re so grateful for her steady, thoughtful support.”

Regina

Mom of a High Schooler

“Sierra has been a game-changer for our son. He used to go into math tests without studying and would fall behind after sports games and travel, with no plan to catch up. Sierra built a simple study routine, mapped out exactly what to do when he misses class, and kept him accountable in the kindest way. He’s following through, walking into exams prepared, and we’re seeing awesome progress!"

HOW I HELP MY STUDENTS NAVIGATE TOUGH SPOTS:

Combating hopelessness with a realistic plan

When a student is convinced that there’s no way to catch up, then pushing unrealistic goals only makes it worse. So, we always start with a realistic plan. Here’s my approach:

Mapping A Realistic Plan Together

I sat down with a student who was far behind in Math. Instead of just telling him what to do, we mapped out a manageable plan in Excel so he could see a clear path forward, and the possibilities for success.

Building Systems For Accountability

We co-created a system for weekly check-ins and submitting assignments. This gave him a structure to lean on and helped him stay consistent.

The Result Is Empowerment

He didn’t just turn in his work; he learned how to email his teachers and attend study halls. He realized that he had the control for change and has the ability to take the necessary steps needed, which is a lesson that lasts a lifetime.

The Ultimate Goal:

My goal is to help students move from scattered and stressed to organized and proactive by building simple systems that fit how their brains work. I wants students to feel confident taking initiative like: emailing teachers, turning work in, and advocating for themselves, so progress lasts beyond tutoring.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:

“When a student comes to me and says, ‘I remembered to do this on my own’.”

For me, progress isn’t just measured by grades; it’s about seeing students take ownership of their responsibilities and reduce stress at home.

Progress is when:

  • A student starts to manage their own tasks with fewer reminders
  • The chaos and tension around homework begin to disappear
  • A student feels confident enough to advocate for their own needs at school

These are the moments that signal a real shift toward independence.
