Kate was struggling with disorganization across her schoolwork and daily routines. Within just two months, she built a sustainable system that helped her stay on top of assignments, due dates, and everyday tasks. Most importantly, she gained the tools and self-belief to carry herself forward independently.
Devon’s 4th grade daughter, Kate, was bright and capable, but her daily routines were chaotic. She often skipped key steps in her math work, and struggled to track and submit her homework on time.
At school, she was performing at grade level but sometimes struggled to manage missing work with upcoming deadlines. At home, it felt like a constant cycle of reminders, missing homework, and disorganization.
Some key challenges Kate was facing:
Devon felt the tension creeping into their home life: “We needed help, and we needed it fast.”
Using her planner consistently
Submitting assignments on time (without the constant reminders)
Bringing a new sense of confidence in Kate’s work
Applying checklists for daily routines and schoolwork
Completing multi-step math with increased confidence
Taking ownership of her learning and asking for help proactively
After completing our 60-minute Momentum Session, Kate and her tutor, Cortney, co-created a weekly assignment schedule, built a simple checklist routine, and adjusted Kate’s home and school structure to support consistency.
Devon has seen a clear shift in her daughter’s academic output, but also her confidence and independence in managing both her schoolwork and daily routines.
Even more powerful? It helped shift the dynamics between Devon and Kate as she no longer needs to micromanage to help Kate stay on track as she has now gained the systems and self-belief to carry herself forward.
Kate’s transformation didn’t happen by chance— it started with a thoughtful, collaborative process designed to help her feel capable and independent.
During her Momentum Session, Kate’s tutor, Cortney, sat down with her to review the week ahead. Together, they looked over her school calendar and identified which assignments were low, medium, and high priority. This was a simple but powerful shift that helped Kate break down her workload into manageable parts. Kate was transparent on her needs and asked clarifying questions, if needed.
Instead of handing her a to-do list, Cortney also guided Kate in creating her own. That sense of ownership helped build agency, and started changing how Kate approached her responsibilities. Kate was very appreciative with the chance to be creative; she was able to have a planner that was her own. It was reflective of her growth and progress toward the end of the year. The confidence that Cortney saw in each session was tremendous.
Kate also received targeted tutoring support in Math and English. With a little help unpacking multi-step problems and practicing spelling strategies, her confidence grew quickly.
Over time, these small shifts added up: from missed assignments and daily frustration to consistent follow-through and growing independence.
